The Bombay House Legacy
EST. 1993 Utah's First and #1 Indian Restaurant
And so began the story of Bombay House—Utah’s first Indian restaurant and the pioneer that introduced generations of Utahns to the authentic flavors of India.
Owner Daniel Shanthakumar, raised in Chennai, India, grew up with a foot in two worlds: the rich traditions of his homeland and the Western faith his family embraced. After earning a degree in hotel and restaurant management from Brigham Young University–Hawaii, Daniel came to Utah determined to share his culture through unforgettable food.
On February 5, 1993, Bombay House opened its doors to the curious public. Guests stepped into a warm, vibrant space and were transported by the aromas of exotic spices, the glow of tandoor ovens, and dishes brimming with flavor. Utahns quickly fell in love, making Bombay House their new favorite restaurant.
From the start, word spread fast—praise, glowing reviews, and loyal fans turned Bombay House into Utah’s most award-winning ethnic dining experience.
Today, we proudly continue the traditions that set us apart. Our cuisine celebrates India’s diversity: fragrant curries, oven-toasted flatbreads, and tender meats grilled over charcoal in our clay tandoori oven. Every dish is crafted with care, using time-honored recipes and vibrant spices like coriander, cumin, cardamom, and fennel.
